ABSTRACT

Applying research can be a great way of improving classroom practice and developing schools teachers' professionalism. Conducting research, on their own or in a team, can help to develop their scientific understanding of teaching and learning in a way that benefits their practice. One way of sharing research-based ideas is to publish schools teachers' work. While funding can of course be an issue, many of these are very cheap to attend, and tend to be timed to avoid school days, meaning that permission to attend is not an issue. Schools teachers' own school’s publications provide perhaps the most obvious and immediate way of sharing their research activities with other like-minded people, and yet are often overlooked. A poster which presents schools teachers' research as a work in progress might also help to make the process of research engagement seem less intimidating to peers.
