ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I first summarize some key concepts proposed byAndré Green that profoundly altered both the prevailing theory ofneurosis and its clinical management. I then outline some of the earlier literature that preceded some of his ideas, and present a number of clinical vignettes of my work. Some, early in my career, antedate Green’s contributions. showing how I missed an opportunity to intervene effectively, and others show a change influenced by Green’s new conceptions.
