ABSTRACT

The migration of people from this region to other cities within India has led to a great deal of political awareness among the people of this region, which is evident both in the homeland and in the destination points. The issue of migration was also found to figure strongly in the elections and in the political scenario, and almost all the political parties were loudly playing bidesia and migration songs at the important tea stalls and crossings. These songs touch all the villagers emotionally as migration is a harsh reality for almost every person of this village. Migration is an important issue among the contestants who fight the elections from different political parties. It was observed during the 2014 Parliamentary elections that among the five contestants who stood during the elections from the Jaunpur district, several had a history of migration.
