ABSTRACT

The ability to build positive relationships with others is a core life skill that affects family dynamics, making friends, and being part of a community. Supporting children to develop connections with others from an early age ensures that they are building the skills needed to create strong and trusting bonds with others, as well as be positive members of their family, their friendship circles, their school, and their community. This programme therefore encompasses a number of sessions that will support children to focus on building and maintaining meaningful relationships with others, especially as part of their peer group. Children will reflect on the qualities and traits of a good friend, beginning to build the skills needed to foster friendships with others, as well as knowing how to treat others and be kind. Supporting children early to start developing the skills to build relationships will have a positive effect on their ability to connect to others now and in the future.
