ABSTRACT

John Kenneth Galbraith, the economist and the author defines the purpose of 'leadership' best in his book The Age of uncertainity, when he said: 'All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their time. Dr Pindai Sithole, Director and social research and evaluation consultant in development at the Centre for Development in Research and Evaluation International Africa (CeDRE Africa). He specifies the elements of leadership capacity play a central role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – especially in terms of the extent to which leadership impacts on 'transformation of people's lives'. Sithole's main message – which cuts across all SDGs – is that 'actions of an individual or groups of individuals should always be steered to bring quality of life to people'.
