ABSTRACT

This paper deals with a novel passive fault-tolerant control (PFTC) design for Canonical Tank Level Control System (CTLCS) against major system (leak) faults. For greater advantages, different fault-tolerant control (FTC) techniques have been developed to address system or component faults for various systems with or without tracking control objectives. Though, very less FTC strategies found a relation between the post-fault reference trajectories to be tracked after fault occurrence. This is an open problem and it is well considered in literature. The significant impact of this paper is to design a PFTC using fuzzy logic for post-fault trajectory tracking control after major system fault occurrence. In case of fault occurrence, CTLCS response is found with different magnitude of system (Leak) faults. Finally, the simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed PFTC approach in terms of integral error indices IAE and ISE.
