ABSTRACT

The main objective of this paper is to examine the availability and profit of a computer system with two identical units considering the concept of server vacation. In each unit hardware and software components fails independently from normal mode. On the other hand, the server will be on vacation if any one unit remain operative. The failure time distribution of the components follow negative exponential whereas the distribution of server vacation, repair, replacement time etc. are taken as arbitrary with different probability density functions. Various reliability measures have been obtained using Markovian approach and regenerative point technique. The graphical behavior of the results are drawn to depic the behavior of the results.
