ABSTRACT

The Logical Thinking Processes (LTPs) are made up of six logic trees and the "rules of logic" that direct their construction. These six logic trees are as follows: the Intermediate Objectives Map/Goal Tree; the Current Reality Tree (CRT); the Conflict Resolution Diagram; the Future Reality Tree; the Prerequisite Tree and the Transition Tree. H. Wlliam Dettmer tells that the Categories of Legitimate Reservations (CLRs) are "the foundation upon which logic in general and the LTP's in particular, are built." The CLRs serve to help solidify the logic of each causal connection. The CRT is powerful logical thinking tools that can help publishers filter the insignificant many from the important few. The CRT is a sufficiency-based logic tree and is extremely useful when trying to solve organizational problems. The CRT is used to discover organizational problems, or Undesirable Effects (UDEs), and works backward to identify at least one root cause that leads to most of the UDEs.
