ABSTRACT

In Chapter 6, “Conclusion and Call to Action,” we conclude with a call to teachers, scholars, and informal educators to find ways to use this model to form literacy communities as pathways for their students. In this final chapter, we return to the original tenets that guided this work and reflect on what we have learned through this process as literacy scholars, teacher educators, and women. We reflect on the project and offer ways to improve upon the model for future studies. This project also serves as a poignant model for researchers and educators committed to working toward equity and inclusion in education, shrinking the gender divide in the sciences, and providing more equitable opportunities for adolescent girls across grade levels and disciplines.
