ABSTRACT

Four Gospels faithfully record the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. Nowhere in the New Testament is there an account of any sermon on the subject of astronomy. Galileo’s Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistemi del mondo in favour of the Copemican heliocentric view of the universe was no threat to Christianity, but it was a serious challenge to the authority of the Church. Keynes’s General Theory is devoted to the heresy that Equilibrium is not the centre of the economic universe and can move away from full employment. Economic theologians seemed to be divided between opponents of Keynes who attacked him on the ground that it was wrong to speak of stable equilibrium with less than full employment and supporters. The Holy Fathers of the New Orthodoxy have a difficult problem. Keynes is recognised as a man of genius by supporters and opponents alike. Keynes’s notion of “stable equilibrium with less than full employment” has been effectively expunged.
