ABSTRACT

Fluid mechanics is the study of fluids at rest and in motion. This concept plays a critical role in the area of biomedical engineering. To better understand this, let us first discuss “what is a fluid?” A fluid can be described as something that does not hold its form or shape. It is something that is easily deformed (as compared to a solid). Liquids, such as water and oils, and gases, such as air and oxygen, all fit into this category. The classical definition of a fluid is a substance that deforms continuously under constant shearing stress.
