ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the centrality of relational sensibilities to everyday experiences. Relational sensibilities are integral to Relational Leadership. The relational sensibilities are inherent in the way in which Relational Leaders find themselves attuning to the obvious, dynamic and subtle messages in our everyday lived experiences. The relational sensibilities arise in the experience itself: that is, in particular moments of engagement rather than as a planned influence. Relational sensibilities arise as an intuitive way of being that draws upon a leader's practical wisdom. Leadership stories point to the centrality and importance of the emergence of relational sensibilities within a leader's growing practical wisdom. Relational sensibilities are not only integral to the nature and experience of Relational Leadership, but they also contribute towards the development of a leader's practical wisdom. A Relational Leader's practical wisdom, as enacted through their relational sensibilities, can be formed in a leaders' way-of-being through deliberate, contemplative and reflective consideration of experiential accounts and associated coaching and mentoring.
