ABSTRACT

This chapter delineates scenarios to help advance culturally responsive teacher evaluation (CRTE) in different educational contexts. The scenarios are based on actions that prospective and practicing teachers and school leaders can take to explore, assess, advocate, implement, and design CRTE. They describe concrete approaches to explore teacher evaluation as cultural practice and share this knowledge; assess teacher evaluation models for alignment with the tenets of CRTE; and challenge current teacher evaluation practices and advocate for CRTE. The chapter also provides guidance for the adoption of the Framework for Equitable and Excellent Teaching based on the categories of CRTE, including purpose, community engagement, content, technical properties, and outcome.
