Sex and love
Some of the following stories came up in diagnostic assessments, others during regular therapy sessions. Only a few of these patients were specifically setting out to discuss their sexual life and what feelings were involved in this. It happens that my fascination with language always leads me to achieve a clear differentiation between wanting and needing, loving and liking, seeking and accepting a finding, attraction and discharge of impulses—sentiments that are usually voiced without much preoccupation as to whether they are conveying a precise rendering of the individual’s feelings. It is this “carelessness” that appears in some of the following stories and I can only hope that readers will find them interesting.
