ABSTRACT

The yarn manufacturers are expected not only to produce higher quality yarns but also must be competitive on prices to survive in the market. Ring spinning has remained today as the most used method of yarn production, even though a number of more highly productive systems were commercially developed during the 20th century. Ring spinning is a method of spinning fibres such as cotton, flax or wool to make a yarn. Air-jet spinning is also known as fasciated yarn spinning. It produces yarn at approximately twice the speed of rotor spinning, and approximately 15 times faster than ring spinning. The yarn has to wind several times around the lower end of the spindle to hold it in the spinning position at the time of doffing. Yarn numbering system, also known as yarn count, is a numerical expression that indicates the coarseness or fineness of a yarn.
