ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book. The author discusses promiscuity, infidelity, and the problems associated with making a declaration of love. His general conclusion is that infidelity and promiscuity are all right as long as one can avoid cruelty, deceit, unfairness and selfishness. The moral issues associated with sex and love are multifarious. The author discusses only a few. Thus he makes only passing reference to commercial sex, there is no mention at all of feminist points of view and no discussion of such questions as, for example, the internal clash between typically liberal attitudes towards censorship, on the one hand, and towards hard pornography and snuff movies on the other. There is no reference to the widely-held though no doubt absurd pop-scientific theory that in our species the biological life interests of males and females are intrinsically opposed.
