ABSTRACT

The subject of this biography, Agrippa II, the great-grandson of Herod the Great and last king of the Herodian line, is introduced, along with major issues and themes examined in this study. Notable among the events in Agrippa’s life are the Judaean-Roman War of 66–72 CE, in which he participated on the side of Rome, and, for a modern audience, his encounter with Paul the Apostle mentioned in the Book of Acts. After the War, Agrippa departed for Rome where he was eclipsed by his sister Berenice, who became embroiled in an intimate relationship with the heir to the Imperial throne, Titus, the elder son of Vespasian.
