ABSTRACT
The field trial demonstrates the performance of an Active Coexistence (ACEX) unit in a live Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). The ACEX unit, which is installed at the central office together with the optical line terminal system, acts as a booster and preamplifier, respectively, for the downstream and upstream optical signals. The field trial showed the successful operation of the ACEX unit and GPON in a single optical distribution network.
