ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides comprehensive examples, tools, and templates as a guide for healthcare professionals, with the goal of creating an accessible and useable reference for beginners through advanced practitioners. It highlights that organization's approach and philosophy of communication, change leadership, and systems and process design, giving readers a practical view into the successes and failures that can be experienced throughout the evolution of an electronic health record (EHR) implementation. Some enterprises might propose reducing or eliminating dedicated communications resources, or dispersing the responsibility for communications activities among other roles such as project managers, directors, or application analysts. The book introduces the Communications and Change Leadership model. It focuses on important go-live communications for the EHR, as well as what happens afterward.
