ABSTRACT

The visioning phase and associated assessment and strategy development include many activities. A change and communications assessment should be conducted in preparation for the creation of the project communications plan. There are usually two components to this assessment. The first is an external benchmarking of other organizations through research, or “client calls” and interviews. The second is an internal assessment that takes one’s organization’s specific culture into account. With any major organizational change, it is important to establish a structure that enables project decisions to be made in a timely and effective manner. Communications about the hiring and onboarding of Project Team members is important as leadership establishes the project’s organizational structure and internal communications processes. Internal content pipelines and approval processes should be established between the communications team, technical experts, and project leaders to help translate important messages and provide approvals in real time.
