ABSTRACT

For ninety minutes by the convention hall clock William Green belabored his point before the United Mine Workers. They were threatening to secede from the American Federation of Labor, he said, along with the other seven unions which had formed the Committee for Industrial Organization. This “would be the greatest mistake ever made by a labor body,” he warned them. There was room in the A. F. of L. for both types of unionism—craft and industrial. Why withdraw?
