ABSTRACT

Acephalous confederations are not equivalent to self-defeating anarchy. This chapter outlines a comprehensive model of libertarian anarchy. It considers how far these components, by themselves, can take us towards practical anarchy. with PI psychology and natural rights. On the face of it, working with PI dispositions plus natural rights, and nothing besides, is working with very few tools yet self-styled libertarian anarchists hold they are quite enough. They argue that with them, in a state of nature, we can build an economic structure which will support anarchic society. The chapter also draws attention to an aspect of the dynamics of libertarian economics which actually runs counter to its normative ambitions. This will indicate either a need for a state or a revised normative perspective. A legal system, understood as a form of behavioural regulator could, in principle, restrain PIsm from becoming raw egoism of the calibre demonstrated by A1.
