ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with examples of constructing scatterplots and matrix scatterplots along with suggestions on how to plot transformed data. Further figure enhancing techniques included in this chapter are tips on enhancing axes with the help of the ifelse function, as well as details on manipulating plotting symbols for purposes of adding clarity to plots. Next, given a scatterplot, R's identify feature is demonstrated for labeling plotted points. The discussion then moves to various ways in which to plot lines. These include horizontal, vertical, and slant lines as well as time-series plots. Next, examples are given on how to plot explicitly and implicitly defined curves, and how to superimpose multiple plots on the same axes.
