ABSTRACT

Debra Garcia is the intervention teacher for an elementary campus in Pasadena, Texas a suburb of Houston. Debra’s campus has about 800 students and the majority of the students are from high poverty homes and more than half of the students are in bilingual classrooms. For the past four years, Debra has been working with all of the students at her campus through the campus-wide intervention and enrichment program. Before serving as an intervention teacher, Debra taught for 17 years in first-grade, third-grade, and fourth-grade bilingual classrooms. She has presented conference sessions for mathematics at the regional and state level and presented at Dr. Nicki’s Guided Math Boot Camp in San Antonio. Rogelio Guzman is the mathematics instructional coach for an elementary campus in Pasadena, Texas. The majority of the students at the campus are second-language learners and come from high poverty households. Rogelio has 22 years of teaching experience with 15 years serving as a classroom teacher and seven years serving as an instructional coach.
