ABSTRACT
In Chapter 2 major concepts concerning social attitudes, parental perceptions and behaviours in stepfamilies have been reviewed and discussed with reference to Western literature and research findings. Cultural considerations are crucial as this study was conducted in Hong Kong and the respondents were Chinese. In this chapter I shall examine important Chinese concepts and discuss their relevance to this study.
