ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the potential of alternative food retailers to provide fair responses to agri-food system challenges. It conceptualizes justice as a multidimensional concept that encompasses material, social, environmental and political dimensions. Focusing on alternative food retailers in the Netherlands, the chapter evaluates their performance against these four dimensions of justice and discusses the implications for a just transformation of the agri-food system.
