ABSTRACT

The position and situation of Russian managers was in the Soviet era determined by the social and political environment and this to a greater degree than in the West. In order to deal with the consequences of the state commando economy for industrial/company management, it is necessary to discuss in a more comprehensive way the development of Soviet politics and economy as essential influencing factors on managerial action. Russian armament companies that are looking to avoid bankruptcy, deliver weapons to the Caucasian war zone via Israeli dealers. Most of the Soviet/Russian managers who were considered worth examining received their style and reached their professional position during the period from 1960 to 1990. The possibilities for Soviet/Russian sociologists to work empirically improved fundamentally after 1987/88 but the sociologists are very limited by the strong rejections especially in the 1970s and are at a low qualitative level.
