ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with links between Women’s Studies and Human Geography: why women’s issues should be studied in Human Geography, why a Feminist Geography is of value, how staff and students respond to the challenges of these approaches, are associated and crucial issues. The aims of the first year Human Geography module encompass four broad groups – geographical, intellectual, personal and technical. Formal evaluation of the Year one Geography course is conducted through a long established computer based questionnaire, which covers breadth rather than detailed content sections of specific modules. In Geography teaching and research in higher education, much depends upon individual efforts in developing and extolling Feminist Geography, still seen as a minority interest. Formal evaluation of the Year one Geography course is conducted through a long established computer based questionnaire, which covers breadth rather than detailed content sections of specific modules.
