ABSTRACT

The primary concern of this research has been to explore the internationalisation of services through an in-depth examination of the international development of the UK business services sector. In this concluding chapter the research findings will be assessed in terms of their relevance to the internationalisation of the UK service sector in general. Clearly the service sector includes a diverse range of activities and the research results may hold more relevance to services which display similar characteristics to those supplied by business service firms. In particular, the findings will no doubt have greater significance for other information intensive services and producer services. However, in certain areas the research does have broader relevance and where possible generally applicable results will be highlighted.
