ABSTRACT

This book brings together diverse perspectives on criticism in landscape architecture, establishing a substantial point of reference for approaching design critique. Structured in a way that allows its use as a textbook, with chapters paced to allow for a weekly focus on different themes, it is also intended as inspiration and provocation for professionals and academics in landscape architecture and allied disciplines. The introduction emphasises the significance of criticism in the design process, and stresses its creative dimensions. Discussing the terms “criticism,” “critique,” and related terms, an argument is made for the use of these words. The ambition of the book as a contribution to changing the world is introduced.
