ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter re-emphasises the importance of criticism for landscape architecture. The need for skills in critique extends from the applied methods of Post-occupancy Evaluation through to the provocative explorations of speculative design as a form of criticism. Developing a culture of criticism is important for the professional, academic, and educational dimensions of landscape architecture. The chapter concludes with a final sketching out of the breadth of landscape architectural criticism, alluding to its very topics for critique, and the wide range of forms it can take. This book aspires to be part of a drive to add momentum to the shaping of critical skills in the profession, to encourage activism, to inspire diverse voices, and to offer an invitation to learn the art of criticism.
