ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the summary of an experience with a group of social workers, spanning one year and a half, about the specific theme of violence. The meetings took place in the Genoese Centre of Psychoanalysis and their leaders were Renata Rizzitelli and Carola Del Favero. The group work was very difficult, from the start. During its first stage, the members expressed a resistance to their own experiences and phantasies and asked the authors for answers and protocols for intervention. One group member started a very important exploration area, bringing a phobia that had gripped her at the time. Now and then, she had been looking after her brother's young daughter, and she had always done it with pleasure and ease; however, a rising fear of losing the girl in the street had invaded her. In powerful voices, the members could then speak of the terrible cases when serious threats, caused by mafia-like dynamics, had been uttered to them.
