ABSTRACT
This chapter presents brief biographical notes about 18 poets who lived before the spread of Islam and continued reciting and writing poetry during the early years of Islam. In addition, the chapter provides translations of some of their poems. A bibliography of the sources for the poems and the biographies concludes the chapter.
