ABSTRACT

Children’s Hospital of Shanghai (CHS) was founded by Dr. Fu Wenshou, a renowned pediatrician of the early 20th century in China, and Dr. Su Zufei, the founder of pediatric nutritional studies of the same period in China, when it was initially named as Refugee Children’s Hospital of Shanghai. CHS started to use electronic medical record in selected units in 2008. During the mock evaluation for Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model Stage 6, consultants emphasized several occasions that at the end of the day, information technology adoption in healthcare should facilitate patient safety, sustainable quality improvement, and efficiency of care. At the end of the day, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model validation is for patient safety, healthcare quality, continuous improvement, and process optimization. The entire process of drug dispensing has been documented by the electronic system via closed-loop management for tracking.
