ABSTRACT

This chapter will provide an understanding of the innovation of adaptive learning systems (in other words what we can learn from innovating). It will further describe possible measures of innovation performances, and how to develop innovation management capabilities to support the innovation process (dynamic capabilities). The case study will describe how a specific retailer (the Italian car producer FIAT) is innovating its traditional retail model as prompted by the new e-commerce platform. Finally, the Think Point section will illustrate the extent to which the technology push is eliciting innovation and change in the retail system.
