ABSTRACT

Inventions were invariably labor-saving inventions. These in turn gave rise to a chronic excess supply of labor: “the industrial reserve army. “Just as alienated labor transforms free and self-directed activity into a means, so it transforms the species life of man into a means of physical existence. The capitalist economy gives rise to a false kind of production and to an industrial system that does not satisfy human needs but only those “imaginary appetites” that the system itself has created. The true destiny of man is one of “self-realization.” Corporate purpose of the company, its espoused values, and vision of the leaders create values of its corporate management and operations management systems and for the organizational culture of the company as a whole. In both Dunlop and Hindustan Motors, we have seen unsympathetic management who did not care about the customers or the workers and who led these companies into total disaster.
