ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will address the fourth major developmental task of adolescence: the development of an individual system of values and norms and the ability to actively shape social environmental conditions. If this developmental task is fulfilled, an adolescent has the competence to articulate his or her own needs and interests in public and through civic participation, contribute to shaping their own living environment.
