ABSTRACT

The Acquisitions module is designed to operate those library functions which control creation of orders, order file maintenance, receipt and financial records. Library acquisitions systems present a wide range of operative methods, unlike the Circulation functions, where patterns of operation are broadly similar. In addition there is differing practice in between the major geographical areas, North America, United Kingdom and Europe where the Acquisitions System is well-established. Now used by national, academic and public libraries in these areas, the module is designed to cater for a wide variety of acquisitions routines.
