ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the proceeding chapters of this book. The book provides an eminently practical character, and aimed at providing background for action. It demonstrates that there is great evidence about problems faced by African, Asian and Latin American children regarding housing and related issues. There is also substantial evidence that such problems have short- and long-term devastating effects on the children’s wellbeing. A number of international meetings discussed the problems of the children and focused specifically on housing issues. The problematique of the African, Asian and Latin American children vis-a-vis housing is so vast that one could face strong difficulties in trying to implement a multitude of isolated/parallel projects and programmes to address a large number of specific issues.
