ABSTRACT

Chapter 3: Case Study – The English for Science Course. Here, the case study that informs the theoretical model developed in the book is described in detail. The background and context of the course are described, including the profile of learners and teachers on the course. The chapter addresses important aspects of course design such as needs analysis, aims, course syllabus, in-class activities, out-of-class learning spaces and forms of assessment. This chapter provides the context for the research project which is reported on in greater detail in subsequent chapters.
