ABSTRACT

Introduction This paper attempts to review critically Green Belt planning policy in the light of new commitments towards sustainable development. The focus for this examination will be on a case study of the West Midlands Green Belt with emphasis on a particular development conflict. This case casts light on many of the salient issues which now need to be confronted by policy makers in any reappraisal of the policy.
