ABSTRACT

This chapter offers some hopeful examples that are emerging in all levels of leadership and partnership. It deals with an agenda for action to achieve more sustained and systemic impact in future. Moral leadership is the foundation for making a positive and sustained impact in helping to improve people’s lives and protect the planet. Remarkable individuals or small groups of individuals are the initial drivers of change in almost every context and period of history. Moral leadership is not about rank–any person holding any position can be a moral leader, but such individuals are always characterized by a deep sense of ethics, are driven by core ideals and are motivated by the pursuit of a higher purpose. While moral leadership is an essential foundation of driving systemic change towards more inclusive and sustainable development, other closely related leadership capabilities are also needed.
