ABSTRACT
In this chapter, it will be most evident, I think, that the bodily state and its representation in the mind can be very difficult to separate out unless one chooses, as psychoanalytic writers tend to do, only to consider the latter. The complexities of ordinary biological sexual difference, male and female, the main focus of this book, will be left to one side.
