ABSTRACT

Effect of the ultrasonic treatment during the foaming process on the structure and properties of the gas-filled polypropylene, for example, polypropylene foam, was examined in this article.

2.1 INTRODUCTION

Wide application of polymeric foamed materials, based on the polyolefin’s, explained by their mechanical, insulating and operational properties. Foamed polypropylene (PP) is widely used material in numerous applications, but existing foaming technologies of this polymer have some general disadvantages. Foaming of PP requires the use of specific blowing agents, specific types of polymer and special process conditions [1].
