ABSTRACT

Until recently, the main requirement of electricity consumers was security, especially in terms of non-interrupted supply. With the increasing presence of loads, powered using power electronics, the quality of electricity is becoming increasingly important. Namely, inadequate power quality in industry can interrupt the industrial processes, which may lead to very high financial losses. High power quality is important also in commercial buildings, where the share of equipment, that is sensitive to low quality, is increasing. The contribution of modern electronically controlled devices to the current situation is twofold: on one hand, these devices are the main culprit for the deterioration of the quality level, but on the other hand, these devices are the most sensitive to poor power quality.
