ABSTRACT

During the course of the project the curriculum of the schools underwent a number of changes. Modifications continued so that by the third year a new curriculum structure had been established in S4 and S5 in at least three of the schools. This chapter describes the S4 and S5 curriculum of the project schools at the first of these three levels. It examines the changes in the curriculum organisation of the four schools over a four year period. This was made possible by access to three sources of information. First, curriculum analyses of the schools were available for the years concerned. Secondly, the annual project reports produced by. the schools provided a more detailed account of the curricular and other changes which had taken place. Thirdly, the visits made by the research team to schools throughout the duration of the project had produced further relevant information from teacher interviews and lesson observation.
