ABSTRACT

Curriculum studies is a fast developing area within the field of education. It is now established as an integral part of most initial teacher-education courses and an important component of many advanced courses at advanced diploma and higher degree levels. Ten years ago it was heavily dependent on American theorizing and research, but since then a distinctive British 'tradition' has developed. Though drawing on some American material, this bibliography attempts to introduce students and teachers to the British 'tradition' which has diverged markedly (and, many would argue, fruitfully) from its transatlantic counterpart. The present bibliography is the successor to a mimeographed one first produced five years ago: the remarkable difference in their contents (especially in the proportion of American material) bears witness to the flowering of curriculum studies in the United Kingdom.
