ABSTRACT
Two aspects make the entropy production rate, S˙, highly relevant. First, S˙ is the characteristic for equilibration and nonequilibrium processes. Secondly, S˙ corresponds to the extinction rate of exergy, i.e., it decreases the efficiency of technical devices.
