ABSTRACT

My life is interesting. It can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s always interesting. I tend to see, feel and relate to things differently from most people. For example, sensory information doesn’t make my world a safer and happier, more informed or easier to navigate place. Sudden noises, busy crowds, background commotion, things that sway, nasally voices, tags on my clothes, click-clacking shoes, mushy foods, warm rubber smells, asymmetrical anything, ice-cream sticks, and light pressure on my skin, wreck my mind like a bowling ball making a strike leaving the pins of my neuro system randomly scattered and out of place. Simple things like driving, playing, shopping, eating, listening, and sometimes even talking, becomes complicated. Then life starts to feel unclear and dangerous and I start to panic. Quirk, by quirk, I start marching toward dysfunction.
