ABSTRACT

Winnicott never developed a complete cultural theory but by mapping a path from primary creativity, through transitional phenomena and play, to art and religion (Winnicott, 1953, 1967a, 1967b, 1971), he suggested a way of thinking that others could develop in their own way (e.g., Kuhn, 2013). In this chapter, I am going to focus on a small part 64of this larger domain and discuss the role of form in artistic creation (Wright, 2009, 2013a, 2013b, 2013c, 2015). While “form” itself is not a Winnicottian term, the issue of form is always present in his thinking.
